Arts on Parade

The San Jose Holiday Parade is pleased to introduce a new program to the line-up: Arts on Parade! Arts on Parade is a showcase of various local and national performing arts, entertainment, dance and music groups!

Ballet San Jose

Celebrate an adventure in not only toyland, but also to the Kingdom of Sweets, as Ballet San Jose presents the holiday favorite, THE NUTCRACKER! The Nutcracker is a story about the young Clara, who receives a toy Nutcracker as a gift. After a midnight defeat of the Mouse King, Clara and the Prince are transcended into the Kingdom of Sweets, where they are greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and presented with a performance of delicacies. Ballet San Jose presents “one of the most entertaining versions of Nutcracker anywhere in the country", which has made it a yearly festive tradition for thousands of families throughout the Bay Area. Ballet San Jose's Nutcracker returns for its 30th year with full orchestra, stunning lobby decorations, and carolers and characters from the show meeting and greeting guests before every performance.

The Nutcracker is scheduled to perform in San José at the Center for the Performing Arts from December 10 –December 27, 2009.

Children's Musical Theater

Oliver! is a true musical theater classic based on one of Charles Dickens’ most unforgettable characters. This classic tale of a workhouse boy-turned-pickpocket, boasts a wonderful opportunity for performers of all ages to join in song and scenes of some of the most memorable moment of musical theater! including "Food, Glorious Food," "Consider Yourself," and "Where is Love."

Oliver! will be on the main stage at Montgomery Theater December 4 - 13, 2009
